How to limit WordPress login attempts?
When we talk about adding an extra security layer to your WordPress website. Limiting the login attempts is what first comes to the mind. However, there is more to WordPress security than just limiting login attempts.
Limiting the WordPress login attempts simply secures your website if anyone tries to get unauthorized access.
Gaining unauthorized access via the WP login page is the simplest method. The intruder will try different variations of Username and passwords until the login attempt is successful.
You can lock the user after it fails a certain number of login attempts be it 3 or 5.
If a user has more than 3 failed login attempts you can block that user by simply blocking the IP for a temporary time period.
An IP can be blocked for 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 24 hours, or more as required by you.
Limiting WP login attempts is fairly simple and can be done with just a few clicks. The easiest way is to install a lightweight WordPress plugin as Limit Login Attempts Reloaded.
You just need to install and activate the plugin for limiting the login attempts.
